Tippers Reclaimed Commercial Wooden Sleepers have been treated with creosote. Creosote oil is added to the wooden sleepers as a preservative to deter fungi and insects that have the potential to destroy the wood. Due to the chemicals in the creosote oil, these sleepers should be handled with gloves and should not be used in playgrounds, inside buildings or any outdoor facilities where there is a risk of repeated skin contact.
Reclaimed
sleepers have been in the railway track for between 25 – 40 years previous to
us receiving them, we of course can’t commit to definite dimensions as
they are a reclaimed product and can differ from variants such as ground
composition, weather conditions, the weight of trains running on them, handling
when installed originally as well as other factors having an effect on the type
of sleepers we receive.
